CPCS A36 Lorry Loader

What is the course?

The course will provide candidates with the basic knowledge and skill set that they need to operate a Lorry Loader.

Course Content

  • Pre-start procedures, running checks and shutdown mechanisms
  • Factors affecting machine stability
  • Configuration for travelling on site and on the roads
  • Configuration of lifting duties
  • Loading and unloading procedures
  • How to place materials on transporting vehicles safely
  • Requirements of lifting and mechanics of lifting
  • Safe and effective transportation of loads
  • Placing a machine out of service

How is the Course Taught and Assessed?

Candidates will be taught through a combination of classroom discussion and practical elements. Assessment is carried out via both practical and theory exams.

Who Should Take This Course?

This course is aimed at existing and potential Lorry Loaders operators who either need their training refreshed or have not had any formal training.

For inexperienced candidates the course takes five days. For experienced operatives the course only takes two days.

There are three specific subtypes of machinery available to candidates on this course:

  • A36A: Hook
  • A36B: Clamshell Bucket
  • A36C: Hydraulic Clamp
