The course provides theoretical and practical expertise for people who will be using an excavator within the construction industry or for land-based work. It ensures that the candidates who take the course have the skills to maintain and operate a 360 degree excavator safely.
Candidates will be taught through a combination of classroom-based learning and practical elements. Assessment is carried out via both practical and theory exams.
This course is aimed at existing and potential operators who need their training refreshed or people who have not had any formal training.
For candidates with no prior experience, the course takes nine days. For novice candidates who have had some experience the course takes five days. Experienced operatives who are refreshing their skills can complete the course in three days.
There are three specific subtypes available to operatives on this course:
If you are successful, at the end of the course you will receive the CITB National Construction College certificate. Once the CPCS Technical Tests are passed, you will receive the CPCS Red Trained Operator Card.
You will need to have successfully completed a CITB Health, safety and environment (HS&E) test in the last two years. You must also have a good knowledge of both written and spoken English.
