What is the course?

This course has been carefully prepared to cover the CPCS A60 Mobile Crane. It is ideal for anyone looking to take part in formal training in order to prepare them for operating this crane safely and efficiently.

  • Travelling safely on the open road
  • Comprehending strength of structure, load displacement and stability

How is the course taught and assessed?

The course will be conducted via a series of classroom-based lessons and practical training. Assessment will cover both with a mix of exam and practical appraisal at the end.

Who should take this course?

Even if you have not operated a mobile crane before or received any formal training, you can apply to take part in this course.

Choose from a range of 3 endorsements, dependent upon the type of machinery you wish to focus on:

  • A60A: Blocked duties only
  • A60B: Pick-and-carry duties only
  • A60C: All duties

What qualifications will I receive?

Once you fully complete the course, you will receive your CPCS Red Trained Operator Card, as long as you complete the CPCS Technical Test.

Entry requirements

In order to take part in this course, you must already have a Group C category licence for driving on the open road. Two years before taking the course, you should have passed your CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) test. A good command of written and spoken English is essential.

What can I do next?

Once you have completed and passed the CPCS A60 Mobile Crane course you can progress towards the following courses: CPCS Blue Card training, Telescopic Handler, Slinger/Signaller, Crawler Crane, or Pedestrian Operated Tower Crane.
