The L1 Award in Health & Safety in a Construction Environment is a five-day course aimed at all personnel working in a construction environment. It offers an introduction to health and safety awareness, and attendees will learn how to reduce the risk of injury, both to themselves and others, whilst working on site. This qualification is also a prerequisite for anyone applying for a CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) Labourer Card.
All course material is delivered in a classroom environment by a health and safety expert. The course involves a combination of both individual and group work, and assessment will be based on participation in group tasks, as well as the results of a multiple choice exam.
Upon successful completion of the course, you will be presented with a Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment. This remains valid for life and does not need to be renewed.
Once you have achieved your award, you will be able to apply for a CSCS (Green) Labourer Card. To learn about all the requirements for this card, simply click on the link to find out more.
No prior knowledge of construction site safety issues is required in order to take part in the course, although you should have a fluent command of both written and spoken English.
